You become a member of the GWWC by joining the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP). If you are already a member of the GAWP, then contact Blanche Johnson at bjohnson@gawp.org and ask to be added to the GWWC mailing list and then get involved with the activities of GWWC.
2. What are the benefits of becoming a member of the Georgia Water Wise Council?
Members of the Georgia Water Wise Council are connected to a network of people who rely on water for accomplishing their work. The network includes water professionals in many sectors of Georgia's community.
The Georgia Water Wise Council provides leadership in Georgia for educating citizens on the benefits of water conservation.
You become more connected to the current events having to do with all kinds of water issues with your membership in GAWP.
You identify yourself or your company as someone that values water and recognizes the importance of water conservation in improving the quality of life in Georgia.
You receive the benefits of a monthly newsletter and a bi-monthly trade journal dealing with events and issues related to water in the state of Georgia.
You are a member of one of the largest state water organizations in the United States as a member of the GAWP.
3. Who can join the Georgia Water Wise Council?
The GWWC has corporate members as well as individual members. Any company or person with an interest in promoting water conservation can be a member. The membership comes from a wide range of backgrounds, but all are dedicated to making others more aware of the benefits of water conservation.
4. What is the difference in the Georgia Water Wise Council and the Georgia Association of Water Professionals?
The GWWC is an organization with a mission focused on education in water conservation for Georgia. It is an organization that was founded by a consortium of urban agriculture companies, public water utilities and the Cooperative Extension Service. The GWWC is affiliated with the GAWP as a "Section". The GAWP is a larger organization that includes several water organizations such as the Georgia Section of the AWWA, the Georgia Member Association of WEF, the Georgia Groundwater Association and the Georgia Section of the AWRA.
5. How is the Georgia Water Wise Council governed and operated?
The administration of the Georgia Water Wise Council is handled by volunteer members in cooperation with the GAWP administrative staff. The GWWC has a Board of Directors that meets at least 4 times a year to make plans for the Council?s activities. GWWC participates in the professional conferences and programs of GAWP. The work done by the GWWC is from volunteer efforts of its members.
