GAWP's New Headquarters
GAWP raised approximately $750,000 in Phase 1 of its capital campaign, which was used toward the purchase of the building in 2008 for $1.5 million with the remainder being mortgaged. One of the things that made this an attractive purchase is that the previous owner is leasing the building back from us. The lease covers our mortgage payment; thereby providing time for us to complete design of the renovations.
The design of this 13,000 sq. ft renovation is complete and construction will start literally days from now! The anticipated move in date for our new headquarters is June 2010. Our members will soon have a wonderful space to call HOME!
GAWP is currently soliciting corporate and individual donations for renovating and furnishing the building with a goal of raising $1 million. The building is being modified to add conference and training rooms, expand the warehouse, and to create a lobby with a water theme. These changes are being made to accommodate our training and committee meeting needs and to enhance our image. In addition, we are replacing the HVAC systems, roof, lighting and plumbing fixtures, etc. to reduce energy use and water consumption and to achieve LEED certification. It is important that GAWP be an example of environmental stewardship.
The primary corporate sponsors will be recognized on the water feature which will be the focal point of the lobby. Other corporate sponsors will be recognized on the water drop wall. Individuals can support the building by purchasing a water drop for $100. If you purchased a brick during the Phase 1 Building Campaign, it has been transformed into a water drop.
